Teabaggers are having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that "grassroots" demonstrations aren’t orchestrated by corporate lobbyists. Understandable — if you didn’t have any experience organizing a demonstration that didn’t have millions in free PR from Fox News and well-funded GOP fat cats providing a national infrastructure, you wouldn’t know the difference. I don’t know which is sadder — the fact that the Teabaggers don’t understand that it would be impossible for them to do what they’re doing without this kind of infrastructure behind them, or the fact that they’re being manipulated by the very people they appear to be raging against who are only looking to channel their anger for their own purposes. MINA has been to one of these protests in Houston and interviewed people there. The protesters were interesting to say they least. On our question "Why are you here?" we received "We are against Socialism, No to Healthcare". We also saw many clever signs protesters carried: Socilism Not My Cup of Tea! Patriotic Resisance Don't Mortage my childs future Obama has a crisis of competnce Americans find it hard to understand they have one of the worst health care systems on the planet ($1,000 for ambulance ride?) and that the Obama administration is actually trying to help them. Sure, there were provisions in the Health Care bill that we weren't particularly fond of, but they were removed. Recently the White House added a provision which will make it illegal for Insurance Company to say "No" to a paying customers under the excuse "this is a pre-existing condition". Insurance companies use the term 75% of the time when declining coverage. Instead of thanking the White House for slamming Insurance Co. for refusing coverage to ill individuals, few thousands of people show up to protest, not sure exactly why they are there. The Insurance Co. are spending millions in propaganda to stir up Americans to protest against the White House. In reality, the Insurace Co.'s could be spending these money to actually help the sick!? The protesters and their difficult to read signs will be glad if this bill passes by Christmas.
