Macedonia and Greece deadlocked

Nimetz The UN Secretary-General's special envoy in the dispute between Greece and Macedonia over the name issue, Matthew Nimetz, on Friday met Greece's negotiator for the issue Adamantios Vassilakis at the latter's hotel in Manhattan.

No statements were made afterwards. The meeting took place in the afternoon and Nimetz also met with the Macedonian Diplomat, Mr. Nikola Dimitrov. There were no statements afterwards, however our sources confirmed that both sides are in a deadlock.

NATO Secretary General Jaap De Hoop Scheffer is meeting Friday with US President George W. Bush to discuss NATO enlargement and Macedonia's bid to earn NATO membership.

The Macedonians are very close to break off all negotiations with Greece and there are already speculations to revert back to its old flag, the Vergina Sun with 16 rays.
