Le Figaro: There was another man in Strauss-Khan's Hotel room PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 20 May 2011

Beside the maid who blamed the former director of IMF  Dominique Strauss Kahn of sexual assault and attempted rape, another hotel staff member was in the room at the time of event, French newspaper Figaro said, citing a source close to hotel management.

International Monetary Fund chief has resigned following allegations he sexually assaulted a hotel made in New York.

Strauss-Kahn, financial expert and politician who is potential candidate for France's next president was arrested on May 14 at New York airport 10 minutes before departure to Paris.

Figaro journalists received information that shortly before Dominique Strauss-Kahn allegedly assaulted the maid, there was a man in the room. And it was not Strauss-Kahn. The door to the room was open, and inside was a hotel staff member. The made asked him if she could start cleaning. The man said yes and left the room. He might have known that Strauss-Kahn was in the bathroom showering.

If the presence of an employee in the hotel room is confirmed, he will become the sole witness in the trial.

Ironically, Strauss Khan seemed to have been aware something would happen to him. In an interview with a French paper just two weeks ago before his NYC arrest, he is qouted as saying that he felt someone is working hard to ruin his chances of running for president, also said he feared the Russians might do something, adding "They can just pay someone $500,000 to claim I have assaulted them in a parking lot."
