Ambassador Filipov hands credentials to Japanese Emperor Akihito

Ambassador Gjorgji Filipov has handed over his credentials to Japanese emperor Akihito on Tuesday, MFA said in a statement.

Japanese emperor Akihito, who visited Skopje after the devastating earthquake in 1963, expressed his gratitude for the provided aid by the Macedonian government and the city of Skopje following the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami which hit the northern part of Japan. He expressed assurance that in the following period the two countries will deepen their cooperation.

During his last visit to Japan, Macedonian minister of foreign affairs Antonio Milososki said that Macedonia plans to open its embassy in Tokyo by the end of the next year.
