Gruevski Tete a Tete with Soros

At the sidelines of the 20th International Steering Committee meeting of the Decade of Roma Inclusion 2005-2015 in Prague, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski met Monday with founder and chairman of Open Society Foundations, George Soros, the Government said in a press release.

Gruevski briefed Soros on the Government's activities towards the social inclusion of Roma in the Republic of Macedonia, stressing operations undertaken in the education sector, such as scholarships for Roma students, construction of a secondary school in Suto Orizari municipality, but also support in the fields of housing, employment and healthcare.

The OSF chairman offered assistance for easier and faster access to EU funds over issues related to the Roma social inclusion and implementation of the Roma Decade activities.

Interlocutors also agreed that communication between the Macedonian Government and OSF would resume at an operational level, for the purpose of implementing projected activities towards more efficient chairmanship of the Republic of Macedonia with the Decade of Roma Inclusion 2005-2015, reads the press release.
