Basketball officials in Macedonia, Serbia and Bulgaria reached an agreement to submit a joint candidacy for the 2017 FIBA European championship in basketball.

With its remarkable run at the last championship in Lithuania, Macedonia is on the world's basketball map, however this wasn't enough to get the nod from FIBA to host the Olympic qualifying  tournament for London 2012. Instead, Venezuela was chosen.

Today FIBA will officially issue the 2015 Championship organization to Ukraine after in a surprising move France, Germany, Italy and Croatia all retracted their candidacy to host the tournament.
