The long anticipated cup match between Dutch sides Ajax and AZ Alkmaar ended on a sour note after in a bizarre incident hooligan attacked Alkmaar's goalkeeper, but it was the goalkeeper that dished out most of the beating.

The referee, issued a red card and sent the Alkmaar's goalkeeper to the stands which prompted the visiting coach to order his players off the field thus ending the match in the first half with Ajax leading 1-0.

According to Ajax's sporting director, police arrested the 19 year old fan who attacked the goalkeeper, while AZ Alkmaar's director issued a short statement that it was no longer safe for his team to stay on the field hence he supported the decision to quit the match adding they will respect any decision of the Dutch Football Federation.
