U21: Macedonia beats Holland in friendly PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 22 May 2012

Insbruck, Austria - Macedonia faced Holland as part of a four nation tournamnet in Insbruck Austria, earlier this evening. Although this match was scheduled as 'friendly' for those who watched it seemed as this was the decisive match who would be crowned European champion.

Macedonia beat Holland 1-0 on a goal scored by Aleksandar Trajkovski, and the surprising thing was the sheer dominance of the red and yellow players.

Both teams played very hard and were very physical for a 'friendly'.

Although Macedonia's U21 team saw five new players added to the team due to several of them making a transition to the senior team, they still played very well organized.

Just few years back the Dutch were European champions, they were barely able to bother the Macedonian goalie. In fact, the orange managed to send only two shots towards Gacevski, while Macedonia had seven shots on target and eight off target.

The red and yellow could have scored on numerous occasions, however the finishing touches always seemed to disappoint the offensive line. Until the 82nd minute when Aleksandar Trajkovski of Zulte Waregem in the Belgian league found the way to the net.

Tomorrow Macedonia plays Albania who was defeated 3-0 by Ukraine earlier today.

Macedonia's U21 team fielded the following eleven:

Gacevski, Brdarevski, Bogdanovich, Ristevski, Siljanovski, Najdovski, Husmani, Babunski, Trajkovski, Altiparmakovski, Timov.
