The
Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) can pass a decision over change in
electricity prices if analyses show that costs of EVN and Macedonian
Power Plants (ELEM) in the course of the winter exceeded five percent,
said chairman Dimitar Petrov at Monday's press conference.
He added the two companies have not submitted such requests for now.
"They are analysing the costs that occurred in the winter due to the high price of imported electricity", said Petrov.
He explained that in line with the regulated price
rulebook, if any of the companies posted increased costs by more than
five percent, it could submit a request for price adjustment, which
would be reviewed later.
Pertaining to the stability of Macedonia's power
system, taking into account developments in Greece, Petrov and
Electricity Transmission System Operator of Macedonia (MEPSO) director
Dejan Boskovski both voiced assurance there is no lack of electricity in
Macedonia.
"We are monitoring the situation and there are no serious deviations from the normal operations", said Boskovski.
According to Petrov, the system is prepared for any scenario.
"There is no lack of electricity in Macedonia.
Production capacities meet our needs", emphasized Petrov, adding that
possible shortcomings would be secured through the links with Serbia and
Bulgaria.
