Mother
Teresa is a unique person that ties Macedonia and India and the people
of both countries, said India's Minister of State for External Affairs
Preneet Kaur at Wednesday's joint press conference with host Nikola
Poposki.
Minister Kaur, who is accompanied by a business
delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry, said today's visit
came after the recent stay of Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski in India,
when Macedonia's investment opportunities were presented.
"This visit indicates India's wish to enhance the political and economic interaction with Macedonia", added Kaur.
According to her, there is great potential for tourism development, as well as cooperation in several fields.
FM Poposki said the visit was exceptionally
important, since it was the first by a government official from India, a
country of integrity and credibility in global terms.
"We agreed that relations develop in the proper
direction, but there is still potential for further enhancement in areas
of mutual interest", said Poposki.
In the framework of the visit, the Confederation of
Indian Industry signed a memorandum of understanding with three
Macedonian chambers - Economic Chamber of Macedonia, Chambers of
Commerce, and the Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia.
Interlocutors also referred to issues of regional
importance, as well as cooperation in the multilateral field. In this
context, Kaur thanked for Macedonia's support to India's application for
permanent member of the UN Security Council enlarged composition.
