Serbia's Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said Wednesday that Kosovo applying for membership in the United Nations during his upcoming presidency of the UN General Assembly would be an act of pointless provocation, which he would not allow.
"As long as Serbia presides over the UN, for the next year, this could happen only over my dead body," Jeremic told a news conference after a meeting with Cypriot Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis.
He expressed hope the application would not be filed.
Two UN Security Council member countries with right of veto have a clear position on Kosovo, just like Serbia, which is that Kosovo is not a country and cannot become a member of the world organization, Jeremic recalled.
