The Member of the European Parliament and Rapporteur for Macedonia Richard Howitt Wednesday and Thursday in Skopje will meet officials of the Macedonian Government, political parties and civil sector.
Howitt prior to his arrival to Macedonia in the statement for ‘New Europe’ announced that he will meet the Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki, other members of the government, leaders of political parties and the representatives of the civil organisations among which is the Bulgarian Cultural Club.
The British MEP is visiting Macedonia few days after the visit of the EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule and third round of High Level Accession Dialogue and a month prior to issuing of EC Progress Report on Macedonia.
The European Parliament on March 2012 adopted the resolution on Macedonia’s progress in 2011, prepared by Richard Howitt, in which MEPs once again urged the Council of EU to set a date for start of membership talks with the EU as soon as possible. Also the document welcomes High Level Accession Dialogue between the European Commission and Macedonia as a step forward in the country’s EU integration process.
