Several hundreds of hectares of forest areas, a hotel and a number of houses have burnt down in some 20 fires sweeping across Albania, Mina's correspondent reported.
  
Italian authorities sent a Canadair to help the efforts of the Albanian firefighters to contain the blazes in the vicinity of the tourist resort Seman, near Fier.

According to the Albanian media, the situation is very serious in the regions of Valona, Djirokastro, Kavaja, Korca, Shkoder and Kurbin. The Albanian police have detained at least five people, suspected of setting fires.
