 A Skopje resident sent a letter to France's president. Letter is below, the response from France's presidential cabinet is below the letter.
---------------Dear Mr. President Sarkozy,
On the human path to the end of the life only few things remain,
love, kindness, philanthropic humanity and richness of the spirit. You
will anyway noted into the history, by accident you were elected to be
a President to one Great Country but whether you will be only a number
or remembered, this is something else.
I am forcing myself to
understand the fascistic behaviour of the Greek Government, they are
only trying to find the way how to cover and justified their criminal
activities and the genocide they have done to my Macedonian people. It
is a very well known fact that the Greek Government persistently
denying the existence of any other ethnic group of people with another
nationality in Greece, in spite of the very evident and strong
arguments of the opposite. But this is because Greece is still carrying
the burden of the recent past, for over two decades Greece was a
country with fascistic state system and that was one of the last
fascistic fortresses in the world.
What I cannot understand is
the support that comes from you for this kind of policy. And where does
your need come for to insult at least five million of Macedonians and
Me personally.
We are Macedonians with our culture, our tradition,
our language, our nationality. We have given so much to the world in
the thousands of years of our existence and the world has given us
also, as other national groups have their own contribution to the
progress of the civilization. We are Macedonians and we are here, now
as we have always been, we are alive, we do exist here and now, on this
territory, we are part of Europe, we live in our country and we are all
over the world. You cannot, luckily for us, put us in gas chambers of
death and you cannot erase us from the face of the earth.
From a
President of one state, not any state but France, the mother of the
democracy and of the freedom of expressing yourself, the cradle of the
real human rights, the expectations are at least to advise your
personal friends, the people from the Government of Greece, that the
time of genocide, fascism, aggression, repression, segregation,
humiliation of other nationalities, is over long time ago and that now
in the world another behaviour parameters are valid .
The respected
Cancelar of Germany Mrs. Merkel went to Jerusalem to ask forgiveness
for all misdeeds which the fascists have done in the recent history to
the people of Israel; the Australian Government begged forgiveness for
all injustices they have done to the Aborigines in the past years. The
people from the Greek Government (instead of poisoning their citizens
with hate only for private, very low motives such as greediness for
political power) have to stand in front of the graves of the
Macedonians who were their victims, and have to bow to the Macedonian
homes turned into flame and ashes by the previous Greek Governments,
from where these Macedonians, who were not slaughtered before, were
banished and have to beg for forgiveness from my Macedonian people.
Mr.
President, I feel so offended and discriminated by your last speech in
the Greek Parliament and even more from your open acting against
Macedonian people, but all this is more terrifying and strange because
all this absurd hate is coming from a President of a State. You are not
any more a private person Sarkozy with the function of a President, who
can freely express his private thoughts and feelings, you are an
Institution with a private name, you are the President of the State
and not of any state but France, the country that I and all the
Macedonian people have always loved and deeply respected because of the
progressiveness of the mentality of the people of France. We were
always sure that all the ideas about the freedom and the justice in the
humanity came from your country. Regretfully you are showing to the
whole world and to the international community and to the Macedonians
that these postulates are not valuable for you and that you know only
to speak with the language of hate of other nationalities, segregation
and repression. By expressing your so strong hate against the
Macedonians, you insult not only me and my Macedonian people but all
the progressive and democratic minded French people.
Honestly I
hope that this is only a misunderstanding and that you will revoke your
personal attitude and that you will never any more vouch for
repression, humiliation, disrespect of human rights and any kind of
aggression against any nationality and ethnic group or person, and I
hope that you will use your influence and power to help us, the
Macedonians, to fulfill our elementary human rights.
In the past
time (one hundred years ago and more ) when the Macedonians fight for
the freedom and independence of the Macedonia in France existed and
worked The Macedonian French Association of friendship between the two
nations and the members of this Association was the most respected
people of the French society at that time. The French do not deserve to
be a part of any segregation policy or supports of any kind of
fascistic actions , they were always on the right side .
