Thursday, 29 December 2016

The new Parliament format of the Republic of Macedonia will be comprised of 82 men and 38 women. Most of them are newcomers, but some have been part of the Parliament makeup for a long time. MPs will assemble Friday as a constitutive session is scheduled then.

The session was scheduled by outgoing Parliament Speaker Trajko Veljanovski. On Wednesday, MPs received their certificates from the State Election Commission and they confirm their election in the new Parliament format.

According to election results, VMRO-DPMNE MPs will be most numerous -51, followed by SDSM MPs - 49. At elections, DUI attained 10 MP seats, BESA - 5, Alliance for Albanians - 3, and DPA - 2. This Parliament format will not include Diaspora MPs elected by the people, due to insufficient number of votes.

In the past, SDSM occupied seats located on the left side of the Parliament hall, VMRO-DPMNE MPs used the central seats, while Government Ministers and Albanian MPs filled the far right seats. A similar seating order is expected this time as well.

The new Parliament format will have 62 new MPs, and 58 old ones.
