The roll call has begun, moments after Sen. Barack Obama was nominated to be the Democratic presidential candidate.
Obama's
name was put forward just after supporters of vanquished rival Hillary
Rodham Clinton nominated her in a symbolic gesture.
Clinton had
released her delegates earlier Wednesday to back the Illinois senator,
who was on the eve of making history by being the first black person to
accept his party's nomination.
Obama was officially nominated by
Michael Wilson of Florida, a medic and Iraq war veteran. A labor
activist, Dolores Heurta of California, placed Clinton's name in
nomination.
