Streep got her Golden Globe, what about the White Helmets?
Wednesday, 11 January 2017

Streep's speech at the Oscars was heartfelt, it brought quite a few people to tears. But then again, Meryl Streep is a decent actress.

She spoke how 'villified' Hollywood actors and actresses are, even though these are the most fortunate people on the planet who do next to nothing for a living and earn millions every year. Then she talked about how Trump hates foreigners (yet his wife is from Slovenia), and the best part of the demented speech was how villified the Hollywood Foreign Press was. What a cutie, she thinks the Hollywood Foreign press is actually the press.

But that's Streep for you. Trump's mistake was that he responded to her attack. Let it go, be the better person, she was mocked world-wide for he sheer stupidity, using an irrelevent show in which she received an irrelevant award and spent the entire speech discussing someone else!? Where was Meryl Streep when Obama bombed weddings, funerals, schools, hospitals, water supply... ?

But, my real gripe with the Golden Globes and the Hollywood Foreign Press (that includes bodybuilders, car mechanics - yep anyone can be a member) is that no Golden Globe was awarded to the Syrian White Helmets who have staged so many rescues (many times of the same girl)

Here is a statement of a former White Helmet actor:

Then I was told in order to get paid I had to work as an actor. We asked, why do we have to do this? We were told, Europe and Turkey will not pay us otherwise. Gulf countries also would not pay.

I was there when they were doing a staged video in Salah al-Din district. There was a burning bus, next to the building there were kids. But it was fake. The kids were waiting until we help them, but they were OK, they only had makeup on their faces and hands.

...I know that same scenes were filmed in the Bustan al-Qasr district.

We were constantly staging [scenes].

Also among us were people who worked with militants. They participated in child execution at al-Mashan square.

We many times asked why we had to work as actors. We were told that we have to make videos and in it say that the army is killing civilians, that the Syrian and Russian armies are bombing civilians... if we didn't keep saying this, we would not be supported.

I hope that my country will forgive me."
