Macedonian women make up 49.9% of country's population

Women make up 49.9 percent of the Macedonian population, and live an average 3,9 years longer than men, informed the State Statistics Bureau on Tuesday, in a set of data releases meant to coincide with the International Women's Day March 8th.

According to the Bureau, in 2015 there were 282.078 employed women, 76,3 percent of whom were working in private companies. More than 95 percent of them were hired full time. Women lead men in education levels, with 57,1 percent of them having completed high education.

Depending on their time allocation, statistics show that working women spend 15 percent of their time on leisure, while unemployed women have 21 percent of their time to relax.
