Two ex Parliament Speakers voice support for United Macedonia
Thursday, 30 March 2017

Two former Parliament speakers gave speeches to supporters of the United Macedonia Initiative, who took to the streets of Skopje on Thursday for the 32nd time in a row.

Ljubisa Georgiveski, serving as speaker of the Macedonian Parliament from August 2006 to June 2008, said a petition, signed by 150,000 to 300,000 people, should demand from the European Union to denounce the so-called 'Tirana platform'. In that manner Macedonia may not join the EU, but will certainly enter the European history, Georgievski said.

Savo Klimovski, Parliament speaker from 1992 to 2000, referred to today's protest as an all-people's parliamentary session, dedicated only to 'rejection of the traitorous, concealed Tirana platform, drafted in an another country.'

"We need to clean up this country from traitors once and for all" said Klimovski.

Bogdan Ilievski and Boris Damovski, organizers of the protests, invited the initiative's supporters to join the march tomorrow, as mass rallies and their energy 'will lead to victory, meeting of our demands.'

Not to play the devil's advocate here, but storming Parliament and kicking out the MPs from SDS, VMRO, DUI, BESA will solve everything much quicker than these protests.  //Marina Nikolovska
