A U.S. company in the medical industry will launch production in the coming week, said VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski on Sunday.

The initial contact with the company was made four years ago, during a roadshow presenting Macedonia's investment opportunities in Boston.

"Following a period of analyses, they decided to invest in the country and use a brownfield facility at the site of OHIS (former company of the chemical industry). They operate in the medical industry and will launch production in the course of the coming week", Gruevski told reporters during an inspection of construction works on a sports hall in a Skopje-based orphanage.

According to him, the company aims to employ 200 people, but will start with about 50 for the time being.
