Op Ed: Why Macedonia isn't going to NATO PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 18 March 2008

Image We are all witnessing an absurd campaign by the Greek Government to destroy Macedonia's name, identity, national conscious and the country itself. Is Greece alone in their quest?

Perhaps we are seeing another 1913, ironically, another infamous Bucharest Summit when Macedonia as a country was torned up into three pieces, Greece receiving the largest one, 51% of Macedonia's territory.

95 years later

Back to where we started. Situation has not changed, at least not in any way for the good of the Macedonian people. But lets backtrack 7 years, to 2001.

Macedonian intelligence officers intercepted satelite conversations between UCK terrorist units and the NATO command and control center in Skopje. If you guessed the UCK used NATO's satellite phones, you would be right. NATO command and control gave military intelligence information to the UCK about whereabouts of Macedonian units. Later the UCK used this information to ambush Macedonian soldiers.

Macedonian Intelligence Officers were dismayed at the calls they intercepted. A NATO office just few block away from them was helping their enemy, which themselves have listed as a terror organization.

Macedonians quickly realized they were fighting the EU and the US, the UCK was simply their proxy force. Using UCK is cheaper, more efficient. You hire someone, the UCK, to create a problem,  then step in to mediate and look like you are trying to find a solution for the problems you created in the first place. The result was the "Ohrid Agreement" that many see today as a major step toward Albanian secession from Macedonia, of course, sponsored by EU and NATO.

How does secession and separatism work. Very simply, actually. And the EU and NATO have perfected this.

First you fabricate a census. Albanians in Macedonia, overnight, from 11% went to 25%. Macedonian authorities did not agree to the census, but they had to, the numbers came from EU/NATO. Second, you take the 25%, and instill this information in the mindset of everyone you try to influence, particularly in the western world. While at it, make sure in every press release (BBC, CNN & other media outlets) you change it up a bit, increase it from 25 to 30, and why not even 40% of Albanians.

Second is always the language. It is important for westerners to feel bad about 'oppressed' Albanians. Throw around 25% to 40% and say their language is not official, they don't get to speak it! How terrible the Macedonians are, nearly half of their population is Albanian and they can't even speak their language. This is how Albanian comes into the door as official language. Albanians don't stop there, and would like the language to be official in the Macedonian Parlaiment.

Flag. Albanian flag should be flown in municipalities and on official state meetings. I wish the US flies the Mexican flag on Capitol Hill, and France the German flag. Albanians show no ties and have never shown ties to Macedonia, their aim is to take Western Macedonia, by far the most beautiful part of the Balkans. Most of Albanians in Macedonia's parlaiment are from Kosovo. Their job is exlusively to destabilaze Macedonia. For their job they are paid, and have been paid to do so for a long time.

Bulgaria: Still dreams about San Stefano. In their mind, Macedonia belongs to them. Even though Macedonian partisans fought vehemently against Bulgarian Axis soldiers, and after dozens of Bulgarians fascists were hanged in the Skopje square after their defeat, Bulgaria still propagates the propaganda that Macedonians and Bulgarians are brothers. Perhaps, but from a different mother and father. Recently, Bulgaria has issued passports to Macedonians, who being isolated from the EU, resort to getting a Bulgarian passport so they can travel. This, will be used by Bulgaria to intervene(occupy) Macedonia if anything goes wrong (I am afraid it will) claiming it is only acting to protect 'Bulgarians'.

Greece: Macedonia's name is not a problem for Greece. Greece at the moment is a proxy, it is what the UCK was and still is for NATO/EU/US.  Greece is controlled and is told what to do. On the other hand, NATO acts, once again as the "good guy" trying to solve a problem, a problem they created. The US/NATO/EU could force Greece to change its name, if they ever wanted to. If Macedonia changes its name, Albanians would rise up, as instructed, and claim their desire not to be part of an 'artificial' country, hence the secession. Nothing occurs by chance.

This isn't about Macedonia's name, there are different plans at stake, plans that I am afraid will not see Macedonia in NATO. I very much hope I am wrong.

The wheel of history turns, empires, organizations rise and fall, and the fortunes of men and nations change. Nothing is inevitable, or set, or hopeless. Irony, however, endures.
