President Ivanov to receive award Patriarch Alexy II for Unity of Orthodox Nations

The office of Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov informed that he has been awarded by the International Foundation for the Unity of Orthodox Christian Nations with an order bearing the name of late Russian Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow.

The award is given to President Ivanov for his exceptional work to improve the unity of Orthodox Christian peoples and to promote Christian values. Besides President Ivanov, this year's recipients include Coptic Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and the Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin. The awarding ceremony will be held on May 23rd in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.

Previous recipients include former UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Russian President Vladimir Putin, the presidents of Serbia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Greece, Cyprus, Moldova and Armenia, prominent religious leaders and sports and cultural figures.
