The traditional Vevcani Carnival, which is one of Macedonia's biggest and most unique cultural events that celebrates the arrival of the old calendar's New Year, will be held in Vevcani municipality on January 13.

According to tradition, visitors put on masks and make fun of daily events in Macedonia and worldwide.

Vice Premier for European Affairs Ivica Bocevski said at Friday's press conference that the Secretariat for European Affairs will present a prize within campaign "On the Road to Europe-Start from Yourself" to Vevcani municipality due to nurturing and promoting European values.

"Thus, we want to recognize Vevcani citizens, who foster freedom, democracy and tradition", added Bocevski.

Besides the masked ball, this year's carnival will also include the performances of band "Leb i Sol", pop star Dani and folk singer Blagoja Grujovski. //01.10.09
