Greek media reviews meeting between Obama and Karamanlis |

Greek dailies in Monday’s editions put an accent and report about
reactions from first meeting between Greek PM Kostas Karamanlis and US
President Barack Obama in Strasbourg whose agenda included mutual
relations, the relations of Greece with Macedonia and Turkey as well as
Cypriot issue.
“Greece and US more closer, the meeting of the
two leaders in Strasbourg contributed to improvement of the Greek –
American relations,” reads the headline of newspaper “Apogevmatini.”
Newspaper
notes that the US President Barack Obama assessed the cooperation with
Greece in energy sphere as “decisive” in surpassing the economic crisis
and combating terrorism.
Newspaper “Vradini” comments that prior
to meeting with Karamanlis, US President Obama poured “cold water” on
Greek side categorically informing that US policy towards Macedonia
will not be changed.
“Erdogan – US sheriff, Turkey raised in
strategic partner to US in the region,” reads “Ethnos” daily referring
that US President Obama in Strasbourg called European leaders to accept
Turkey as full-fledged EU member.
“Elefteros typos” daily notes
that Erdogan and Gul threatened to ruin the session of NATO summit if
they do not receive dividends from Rasmussen election of the position
of Alliance’s Secretary General.
Daily comments that European
were annoyed by geopolitical bridge between Washington and Ankara whose
corner stone should be laid with today’s visit of the US President
