2008 Foscar goes to A1 TV PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 06 May 2009

MiNa is proud to establish an annual award named FOSCAR, that will be issued to Macedonian News and Media Organizations.
Who is eligible for this award?
Though all printed and tv media is eligible, there are certain rules that apply:

A media organization/employees must be involved in:
- Fabricating news stories for the benefit of an individual, group, political party or foreign country
- Anti Macedonian propaganda
- Criminal activities by ‘journalists’
- Twisting and manipulation of poll results
- Serve as an extended hand of political party(ies)
- Overall, without a compass

Despite the fierce competition among several Macedonian printed newspapers and TV Stations, our panel of judges unanimously selected A1 TV as the 2008 FOSCAR winner.
Some of you may wonder why A1 won unanimously and outclassed Utrinski, Dnevnik, Makfax….

The owner of A1 TV, Mr. Velija Ramkovski was certainly a big factor in us awarding the FOSCAR.

It was almost a year ago when Mr. Ramkovski decided to usurp an area in downtown Skopje for the needs of A1 TV by building a small structure which he named “Window to the Citizens” (how cute). He constructed  the A1 ‘office’ by plywood and what appeared to be plastic windows, without any kind of license and placed it in the most visited area, in Skopje’s main square where rent is in the thousands of euros (of course there were no plans to pay rent). When the city of Skopje (mayor Trifun Kostovski) told A1 TV to remove the illegal structure, the TV station went on a month long campaign against Kostovski accusing him of being terrible mayor/dictator for not allowing the citizens of Skopje to interact with A1…

- Mr Ramkovski is currently being sued by the owner of SwedMilk Macedonia for owing more than a million Euros to employees of the milk factory. A1 TV through its ‘news’ organized/provoked the farmers to protest  against the Macedonian Government challenging them to get  their money back there, despite the fact that SwedMilk is a private company and ignoring the fact that A1 TV owner is the one who owes money to those farmers via his shady business deals.

More than half a dozen A1 journalists have been sued by private and or public officials. Each time A1 journalist ended up fined by the Courts (thousands of euros) for fabricating news stories that damaged either private companies or public officials.
Instead of apologizing, A1 claimed never having knowledge of any lawsuits against them. After losing their lawsuits, A1 TV claimed Macedonia is a 'dictatoriship'.  Unfortunately for A1, MiNa found out that the Courts in Skopje had sent subpoenas to A1's journalists numerous times, however knowing they’d lose their cases, A1 ignored the letters and failed to make an appearance in Court.
The way it stands now, starting from their owner, A1 TV has more employees with criminal background than ‘journalists’. One must mention that any journalist worth while had quit working for A1, the last being Goran Momirovski.

During the past eight months, A1 TV from a hysterical Anti Government TV, transformed itself into a full blown Anti Macedonian TV.

Time after time, A1 displayed more outrage over a statue or road named after Alexander, than the fake reactions by the Greek Government.

Each day A1 is fabricating stories of unstable country, government, police, economy, currency with the usual conclusion the population was 'doomed' …
In their blind rage against the country, Government and the fact that their biggest paying customer SDSM had unsuccessful elections, readers aren’t able to distinguish A1 TV from a Greek Government controlled media.

The TV Station's Anti Macedonian propaganda is at such heights that it is used by numerous Bulgarian Media, including but not limited to Sofia Echo and the notoriously famous propaganda tool Focus-Fen. While previously both Focus-Fen and Sofia Echo struggled to fabricate negative news on Macedonia, today both use A1 TV as their source for 'information'.

Because A1 stupidity is on global scale and with no end in sight, the FOSCAR comes equipped with a globe and a clock. Congratulations to A1. MiNa has forwarded the 2008 FOSCAR trophy to your offices.

it is sad that we Macedonians believe everything our government says, and we believe everything on TV more than Americans. It is embarassing!
