Macedonian businessmen from the car sector request direct help of the Macedonian Government through subsidies and tax facilitations. According to some sources, a letter in the form of a list with concrete requests was sent to the Ministry of Economy.

Requests mostly concern customs facilitations for production materials, machines, tools, bumpers, chassis and car bodies. Complete or partial facilitation by average 1 to 15 percent is requested.

Ilija Pop Janev from Opel stated that the Government can reach such measures in this situation. He said that the excise duty is a tax on luxury, and vehicles are a necessity and not luxury.
