It was almost 12 months ago that Mr. Vaknin dropped a bombshell of a ‘deal’ between Athens and Washington, in which Condi Rice and Greece’s FM Dora Bakoyanis had agreed for what the new name of Greece's northern neighbor would be.
In his article for the Global Politician, citing ‘anonymous’ and ‘high placed sources’ the deal was done and Macedonia must accept the new name or Washington will turn its back on the small Balkan country. The deal, according to Mr. Vaknin was “take it or leave it”.
None of what Mr. Vaknin stated in his article materialized. There was no deal, nor a secret meeting between Condi and Bakoyannis. The timing of Mr. Vaknin’s article was peculiar, it appeared few days before Nimetz’s scheduled visit to Athens and Skopje.
Déjŕ vu
Fast forward a year later. Nimetz has scheduled a visit to Skopje and Athens to continue negotiations. Mr. Vaknin is back with another article in the Global Politician, citing ‘anonymous’ and ‘high placed sources’. This time Greece would offer 500 million euros in ‘aid’ for Macedonia to change its name into Northern Macedonia… once again claiming it was a done deal. Two things Vaknin omitted: First, Macedonian refugees are suing Greece for 12 billion euros, and there is another suit in Hague. The second thing is Greece could use some financial help themselves. There is clearly an evident intent by Mr. Vaknin to create nervousness in Macedonia prior to Nimetz’s arrival, and he is successful. His propaganda articles are top news at A1.
Who is Sam Vaknin? This is where it gets plain weird. If you thought Mr. Vaknin was recently laid off by Eleftheros Typos, you’d be wrong, though we can see why you’d think that. And no, he didn’t quit A1, and we can also see why you’d think that. Mr Vaknin was an ‘advisor’ for the Macedonian Government during Branko’s era, and a columnist for Dnevnik. Some things need no explanation.
Now here is where it gets disturbing. Accidentally I decided to do a google search on Mr. Vaknin in the google toolbar. You can do this youself by typing his name and wait for Google to give you numerous suggestions – The following results appear: “Sam Vaknin fraud, Sam Vaknin psychopath, Sam Vaknin narcissist”. These are names that Mr Vaknin's peers are using to describe him. With this MiNa will conclude any and all reporting on Mr. Vaknin and his opinionated articles and 'thoughts'. //Gorazd
