In a story similar to Indecent Proposal a banker offered a woman $1 million to leave her husband for him, a court has been told.
Millionaire banker Yann Samuelides, a managing director at Goldman Sachs, allegedly promised the cash to Alzbeta Holmokova if she married him and left her pensioner husband. He threatened to kill himself if she stopped seeing him, a divorce hearing at Clerkenwell and Shoreditch County Court in London was told.
Ms Holmokova's husband, Denis Morley, 67, from Coventry, who is retired, said Mr Samuelides, 35, showered his wife with gifts and rented a flat for her.
He said: "He bribed her to leave me."
He claims Samuelides told her to leave him and go to live with him instead and that he would give her $1 million. Mr Samuelides and Ms Holmokova arrived together at court.
Ms Holmokova has filed for divorce on the grounds of unreasonable behaviour.
The case was adjourned until 13 October.
