Danger lurking in Albanian weapon depots PDF Print E-mail

In Albania, there are presently 26 weapon depots, all of them 50 years old, housing more than 90,000 tons of ammunition. This ammunition is very dangerous to Albanian citizens due to its age. According to Tirana newspaper "Sekuli", the Albanian Ministry of Defense is worried because the ammunition's chemical and physical compounds start to change (due to age), and could self ignite, sparking another disaster. "Sekuli" also says the Weapon depots themselves don't meet the safety standards
